HC to Municipal Corporation of Delhi:

‘Be financially viable or face dissolution’

The Delhi HC was hearing pleas by serving and former employees of the MCD over non-payment of their salaries, pensions and arrears as per the 7th Central Pay Commission.
“You have to become financially viable. What public services can you give if you can’t even pay salaries?…The 7th pay commission is not a charity. This is their (employees) right. If you can’t become financially viable then WE WILL RECOMMEND THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT TO TAKE ACTION FOR DISSOLUTION under Section 490 of the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act. We have handled this for too long. You set your house in order"
