In under 36 hours, Bharat's INS Sumitra conducted a swift and tireless rescue operation, saving two hijacked fishing vessels with 36 crew members (17 Iranian and 19 Pakistani) in the Southern Arabian Sea, approximately 850 NM west of Kochi. The intervention prevented the potential misuse of these vessels as mother ships for piracy on merchant ships. India effectively thwarted piracy threats and safeguarded maritime security.
