At least 257 Scheduled Tribe (ST) students, who had converted to other religions, availed reservation benefit available to STs and are studying in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the state, according to the interim report submitted by a three-member committee set up by the Maharashtra government in December 2023.

The committee was set up to find out the total number of ST students who converted to other religions but availed reservation benefit to take admission in ITIs.
