Without a 2nd thought, he got back in his vehicle & headed towards South Mumbai (which was not even his jurisdiction) where Terr0rists were creating havoc. On the way, he got news on Police Wireless Set that two Terr0rists have ki££ed ATS Chief Hemant Karkare, Additional CP Ashok Kamte & Sr Inspector Vijay Salskar, with fellow policemen & are now headed to Cama Hospital. These terr0rists were Ajmal Kasab & Abu Ismail. So, Sadanand Date Ji headed towards Cama & Albless Hospital in south Mumbai, carrying only his Service Revolver. Kasab & Ismail had walked into Children’s hospital were cornered by Sadanand Date Ji & a small team of Mumbai Policemen with him. Even as Terr0rists opened fire and hurled grenades at them, Date Ji & his team managed to make them run away without hurting patients & children in hospital. He even rescued lift operator Chandrakant Tikke who was being used as a human shield by Kasab. Sadanand Date Ji suffered a blackout in Grenade Attack, which allowed Kasab & Ismail to escape. Date Ji got injuries to his eyes, throat, chest, right knee & suffered deep wounds on his left ankle. Two men from his team were shot dead by Terr0rists before they fled. Sadanand Date Ji was later awarded President's Medal for his Bravery AND NOW he is appointed as NIA CHIEF.
