In the Middle East, there's a lot of tension, and Moscow is urging both Iran and Israel to show restraint. This comes after two Iranian generals died in an attack in Hungary earlier this month, which Tehran blamed on Israel. Following that, US President Joe Biden voiced strong support for Israel on Wednesday.

"The region shouldn't become unstable; it's crucial for everyone to exercise restraint," said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov to reporters. Russia had previously criticized Israel for its actions in the month-long conflict in Gaza.

Moscow has been trying to maintain relations with all major powers in the Middle East in a traditional manner. Although the Gaza conflict strained its relationship with Israel, it has been strengthening its military and political ties with Iran from the beginning.

Peskov also mentioned that there hasn't been any contact with Russia as a possible mediator between the two bitter rivals.
