FM Nirmala Sitharaman chaired a pre-Budget meeting with representatives of trade unions and labour organisations in New Delhi on Monday.

The government had announced a hike in honorarium for scheme workers in 2018. Since then, prices have increased sharply and hence it is necessary to increase the honorarium of the scheme workers"

Broaden the scope of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) with the provision for a guaranteed 200 days of work from current 100 days for each family.

Construction workers should be guaranteed access to ration through ration cards across the country under ‘one ration one nation’ scheme. Similarly, Ayushman cards should be issued based on the worker’s identity rather than the family, allowing workers ot use Ayushman across the country during their migration,”
