Underrated and less talked about is the achievement of the Modi government in the conservation of the sacred Ganga River and the environment, leading to improved livelihoods for farmers, fishermen, artisans, and a thriving ecosystem. Over 30,000 hectares of forest area along the riverbanks have been restored, resulting in the restoration of significant biodiversity. The UN Environment has produced an amazing short film showcasing these achievements. We have witnessed the consequences of the Ganga Action Plan announced by Rajiv Gandhi in 1985 and its failure to address the pollution in the Ganga River despite significant financial investment. In contrast, within just nine years, the sincere efforts of the Modi government through the Namami Gange scheme have brought about a remarkable turnaround for Maa Ganga. Those who ridicule Modi for his attire or accepting expensive gifts are unaware of where the auctioned articles go. They contribute to the Namami Gange scheme, which has made a visible impact. We extend our appreciation to the efforts of the Modi government for successfully restoring the magnificence of Maa Ganga.
